Renfrewshire Weaving Musical Threads Festival
Local SNP MSP Derek Mackay is encouraging constituents to attend some of the many performances in Renfrewshire on the 3rd and 4th of March as part of the Weaving Musical Threads Festival.
Historically, Renfrewshire is known for its thread and weaving industries and for its religious connections through Saint Mirin and Paisley Abbey, such as to Cluny in France. Nowadays, Paisley is 'Scotland's choir town', home of the annual 'Voices in Paisley' festival. Weaving Musical Threads will be an inspirational event that reflects historical and present day Renfrewshire and its place in the world.
There are a variety of activities on Saturday 3 March throughout the Renfrewshire constituencies and on Sunday 4 March, Paisley Town Hall and Paisley Abbey will become 'The Hub', the focus of workshops and performances on the day.

Commenting Mr Mackay said;
“This is the biggest such collection of artists to perform in a Renfrewshire festival and I can assure you that there will be something for everyone, and it’s free!
“There will be plenty to see and do with events across the area including those in Renfrew and Bishopton in my own constituency.
“This weekend is one of the events being organised toward the Cultural Olympiad being held in London in the summer. There has been a huge amount of effort from all the volunteers and partner organisations involved in organising this cultural and creative celebration of Renfrewshire and I wish them all the best for a successful event.”
